This place is great. Staying in a "camping cabin" its got everything you need and more.. heat and electric (didnt realize that) The pool was warm and kids had fun

I stayed for two nights in my camper with my family of 5 and two dogs in one of their full hookup pull-through sites. The price was reasonable, and the cost of things at the store was not as outrageous as I've seen at other campgrounds. The pool was small, but heated. There were two very nice playgrounds; one of which was kind of a ninja warrior style course. There was a snack bar by the playground, which had a good selection with reasonable prices. Also, they offered breakfast if you want it, which was also a reasonable price. The area is beautiful, and the campground takes advantage of that. There are decent hikes right on the property, and they link up with surrounding, more challenging hikes & mt. biking. The campground borders the Ausable River. One of my favorite features of this site though, was the pet accommodations. They have a "dog walk" trail, with poop pickup bags and trash cans along the way, as well as a fenced in play area with all kinds of obstacles for the dogs if they are interested. The only reasons I wouldn't give 5 stars is that the sites are not very private, and my site, was not all that level. I was about 3 inches off level before I used my leveling blocks.

Avoid this place if you are a tent camper. I have to say I'm really surprised by the 4.5* rating this place has on Google. I almost never write bad reviews, but here I would strongly advise any tenters to stay away from this campground. The MAJOR problem is that the sites are so small and packed side-by-side, you literally sleep only a few meters away from the other campers. Noise is an issue, even if your neighbours aren't so much loud but just awake, you have to hope they will get to bed before you or that you didn't forget to bring earplugs. During my stay, we (my girlfriend and I) were unable to sleep until very late, just because our neighbours were talking and drinking beer. Again, they were not super loud nor exaggerating, the problem was that they were just like 6 meters away from our tent. No option to move the tent, sites are so small, there was no other place to put it. I even had to park my car differently to have a good spot to put my tent (and it's only a small 3-person tent by the way). On a more positive note, I have to say the staff was always nice, sites are usually clean and there is a lot of amenities (mini-golf, pool, free showers, wifi, laundry, etc...). I think you could have a great time if your plan is to come with an RV with your kids. But for a tent site, just avoid it, it's rather expensive (~40 $US for a tent site), and you will have such a better experience if you go to a federal campground or just to another place. If you are more adventurous, just consider to even go directly in the wild, as most of the forest around isn't super dense, finding a site to put your tent wouldn't be such an issue. I regret not having done so, and that's the reason why I decided to write this review, hoping maybe other campers will reconsider their choice if they were planing to go there.

The main lodge showers, store etc. are very nice; however the outer bathroom/showers need a deep cleaning and more heat. There were spider webs from several generations (of spiders, not humans) of spider webs in most corners of the showers. The showers and bathrooms hadn't been cleaned well for many moons. I parked less that 2 minutes between sites, beside trees so not to block anyone, and someone was rushing to tell me I couldn't park there. Okay, no problem until I parked in the wrong parking lot to do laundry. When I moved...again in a minute, I was told I was parking wrong (the spaces were taken by a truck, except for the handicapped site; so I parked out of traffic, besides a row of rocks to make sure I wouldn't block traffic).......No, not good enough. I was told I should park in the handicapped slot. (I am not handicapped). Haven forbid you should park anywhere outside their perception of how it should be done. One of the three "site police" should spend a few minutes cleaning the outer bathroom and showers.

Playground my daughter enjoyed. Convenient "snack shack" that serves everything from milkshakes to cheeseburgers. The only downfall is the arcade room. More than half of the games were broken. Overall great, would def come again.

Beautiful location. The sites are large and the tent sites have a lot of trees. All of the staff that we worked with were helpful and friendly. We look forward to camping again next season!
